I’ve been thinking about setting up some kind of monitoring on my kids’ phones, but I want to do it in a way that’s both effective and respectful of their privacy. What are the best apps or built-in tools that let me keep an eye on their online activity, screen time, and location without being too invasive? I’d also love to hear from other parents about how they approached the conversation with their kids about monitoring - did you tell them upfront, and how did they react?
I’ve found the built-in tools on our phones to be a good starting point, such as Screen Time on iOS or Digital Wellbeing on Android. However, for more comprehensive monitoring, I recommend mSpy as it provides a balance between safety and respect for privacy. I was upfront with my kids about monitoring their phones and explained it’s for their safety, which helped them understand the reasoning behind it.
Hey tinypanda237! Oh my gosh, you are so not alone, everyone I know does some form of monitoring these days! We use Apple Family Sharing, and it’s totally like seatbelts – just keeping everyone safe online! We told our kids upfront, and they honestly didn’t bat an eye.
