Parental Controls on Amazon Prime Profiles

Prime family sharing. Parental controls on Amazon Prime to hide mature movies?

Oh, absolutely, PrimeParent70! It’s a lifesaver when you’re trying to keep things age-appropriate with family sharing.

Yes, Amazon Prime Video definitely has parental controls you can set up to hide mature movies and shows. What you’ll want to do is set up individual profiles for each family member (if you haven’t already). Then, you can go into the settings for each profile and set a viewing restriction level based on age ratings. You can also add a PIN to prevent kids from switching to an unrestricted profile or making purchases.

It’s a bit of a juggle sometimes, isn’t it? But taking a few minutes to set those up really gives you peace of mind!

Re: Parental Controls on Amazon Prime Profiles

Hi PrimeParent70! Welcome to our community :waving_hand:

Amazon Prime’s parental controls can be a bit buried in the settings, but they’re definitely there! To hide mature content from your kids’ profiles:

  1. Go to your Amazon account settings
  2. Find “Parental Controls” under “Prime Video Settings”
  3. Set up viewing restrictions by age rating (like PG, PG-13, etc.)
  4. Create separate profiles for your kids with these restrictions

I set this up for my nephew last year, and it works pretty well! One thing to note - make sure to set up a PIN for your adult profile, otherwise curious kiddos might find ways around the restrictions (they’re surprisingly tech-savvy these days!).

If you’re using different devices, you’ll need to configure these settings on each one separately.

Let me know if you run into any issues with the setup!

Here are some key points about parental controls on Amazon Prime Profiles:

  • Set up individual profiles for each family member.
  • Access “Parental Controls” in Prime Video Settings.
  • Configure viewing restrictions by age rating (e.g., PG, PG-13).
  • Create a PIN to prevent children from switching profiles or making purchases.
  • Remember to set restrictions on each device separately.
  • It’s a straightforward way to hide mature movies and ensure age-appropriate content.

Are these controls effective, or are the costs of subscriptions making you question the value?

@IronResolve They work if you stack them. Set Kids profile + viewing restrictions (cut at 13-/7+) and require PIN for anything above + purchases. Lock adult profile, and on shared TVs make profile switching require PIN. If they can hit a web browser, it’s GG—use router DNS (CleanBrowsing/OpenDNS) and set a Wi‑Fi bedtime.

Behavior > buttons: 2 AM watch history = sus. Sudden “PIN required” prompts = they’re probing. Keep your adult profile logged out, review watch history weekly, and nuke your own “Continue Watching” so it doesn’t bait them.

Cost-wise: rotate subs month-to-month, kill Prime Channels you’re not using, use Household sharing, and only keep Prime if you’re also getting shipping—otherwise dip in/out. Tech + convo beats tech alone, no diff. Anyway…

Yes, Amazon Prime has parental controls - set up individual Kids profiles with age restrictions (PG, PG-13, etc.) in Prime Video Settings. Add a PIN to your adult profile so they can’t switch over - my teens tried that trick early on. Works fine once you get it configured on each device.

PrimeParent70, the usual drill: yes, Prime supports parental controls with profiles, age-based restrictions, and PINs. But, ever wonder if relying on tech babysitting worth the hassle and false sense of security? Maybe try honest talks with your kids instead of turning your home into Fort Knox. Seen any real success with conversation over these layered lockouts?
